The role A large Australian insurer has restructured its architecture function and aligned it to business domains. The customer domain - which covers the core insurance business - is the most commercially significant arm of the organisation, and this role owns it.
The strategic direction is already set. What they need now is someone who can take those goals and make them happen - building roadmaps, engaging stakeholders, running workshops and translating business priorities into architecture that actually gets delivered.
This person sits between the technical teams and the executive layer. The tech round isn't the challenge - it's the business conversation that matters most here. Think less pure architect, more technology strategist with deep technical roots. If you've come from presales, solutions consulting or a customer-facing technology role, that experience will land well here.
Day to day you'll be working across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), digital customer experience, SaaS, APIs and integration, CRM and ERP (Salesforce, SAP, Dynamics) - but always through the lens of business outcomes, not technical purity.
What you'll need - 10+ years in enterprise architecture, solutions engineering or a business-facing technology role
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team of architects
- Strong track record engaging senior business and technology stakeholders - workshops, exec presentations, the works
- A background in presales, solutions consulting or customer-facing technology roles is highly regarded
- Cloud-native experience across AWS and/or Azure
- Comfortable with AI use cases and how to translate them into business value
- Background in health, insurance or financial services highly regarded
- TOGAF or SAFe experience useful
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
