This isn’t a traditional IAM or pre-sales role. And it’s definitely not about configuring one platform and calling it a day.
If your background is limited to app onboarding, directory hygiene, or single tool ownership, this likely isn’t the right fit. If, however, you understand identity deeply, enjoy talking shop with senior stakeholders, and can translate complex identity problems into practical, scalable solutions, keep reading.
To succeed in a role like this, you’ll likely be comfortable with the following:
- Strong grasp of identity verification, CIAM, and counter fraud concepts, and how they apply in large scale enterprise environments
- Deep understanding of identity and authentication protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and related standards
- Confidence designing and articulating end to end identity solutions that balance security, friction, compliance, and user experience
- Ability to step into senior rooms and influence architects, security leaders, and decision makers with credibility
- Translating customer needs into technical designs, solution architectures, and implementation approaches
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, forming a point of view, and moving things forward without waiting for perfect requirements
- Broad technical fluency across SaaS platforms, APIs, cloud environments, and modern application architectures
So, what’s in it for you? - Base salary around $200k + super, with a bonus structure that can take total earnings towards the high 2’s, if not 3
- Flexibility to work largely remotely, throughout Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
- A senior, visible role in a business playing in a fast growing, high impact part of the security and identity market, truly leveraging AI without the hype
- The chance to work on genuinely interesting identity problems, not internal IT plumbing
- Autonomy, trust, and the space to operate like an adult professional
- A highly capable, collaborative team who take identity seriously and do things properly
Your impact - Act as a trusted identity advisor to large, complex organisations
- Influence how identity verification and customer identity solutions are designed and adopted
- Support critical opportunities without carrying a sales number
- Shape outcomes across identity, fraud reduction, and customer experience
- Feed real world insights back into product direction and strategy
Your typical day (although no two days are alike) - Engaging directly with customers to understand identity challenges and constraints
- Designing and presenting identity solution approaches aligned to business and security goals
- Partnering with sales and customer teams to progress opportunities and implementations
- Advising on best practice across identity, verification, and customer trust
- Representing the business in senior technical discussions, workshops, or events
Brass tacks This role suits someone who is technically credible, commercially aware, and confident operating independently. You’ll need to be comfortable forming opinions, defending design choices, and influencing outcomes without being overly prescriptive or salesy.
If you enjoy being the person clients trust when identity decisions really matter, this one is worth a conversation.
