We are seeking a highly skilled Security Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the security strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the implementation of robust security policies, standards, and controls across the entire organization.
This position is a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on implementation, requiring a candidate who can effectively navigate all three aspects.
The role needs somebody who has worked in organisations where they have had to be proactive and also delivered as well as strategised. In doing so, you will make a significant impact and help shape up security for the business, with future hires planned to be made.
Key Responsibilities: - Analyse, prioritise, design and implement security policies, standards, and controls to ensure best practice infrastructure security outcomes across the business.
- Design and implement strategies and plans to address identified risks and continuously improve the company's overall security posture.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and delivery teams to provide expertise and ensure robust security practices across AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), in compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and other relevant security frameworks.
- Manage and maintain internal and external infrastructure, tools, and services to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable operations.
- Coordinate the investigation, management, and response to all security incidents.
- Evaluate and assess technology vendors and their solutions, identifying opportunities to automate and improve existing processes.
- Create and update technical documentation, including diagrams, guidelines, and best practices.
- Engage in business contexts as well as technical challenges, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new techniques and tools.
- Balance strategic planning with hands-on technical work, driving both high-level security initiatives and detailed implementations.
Requirements: - Extensive experience in a security architect role coming from a technical background
- Expert-level knowledge in designing secure architectures and patterns.
- Proficiency in privacy management and handling controls for sensitive data.
- Understand the application layer and API security, ensuring comprehensive protection across all layers.
- Hands-on experience in securing cloud environments, particularly AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud; cloud design experience is essential.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards and frameworks, including ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and SOC 2.
- Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are advantageous.
- Ability to autonomously take accountability for complex work, with a fast-learning and adaptable mindset.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

This position will ideally be based in Melbourne, with the option of Sydney also viable. The role will mainly be remote.
