First a little about the company and the team.
The company is a well known name in cybersecurity with offices dotted around the country, their DFIR team number 11, who are mostly on the experienced side but they have a couple of junior people that they're training up and mentoring. They're big on helping their staff learn and develop their skills and helping them achieve their long term career goals, overall it'll be a great thing to have on your CV in the future.
The role itself reports directly to the head of DFIR, it is a fairly independent role in that you'll be expected to be able to do the work with minimal help or assistance. The split between doing IR work and DF work isn't always going to be 50/50 or an even split, it will ebb and flow depending on the client's needs which is why you need to be able to do both.
Key responsibilities:
- Performing a wide range of DFIR work with minimal guidance and direction required, including deployment and use of DFIR toolsets, collection of evidence sources, technical analysis of artefacts, and application of best practice analysis techniques.
- Helping to ensure a high level of quality in the delivery of DFIR engagements, including technical work performed, customer updates and reports, and presentation of results.
- Taking a leading role in the delivery of customer engagements in accordance with the DFIR operational framework, including scoping requirements, defining technical work to be performed, drafting budget estimates, preparing engagement letters and other documentation, performing engagement administration, leading other team members, preparing deliverables, identifying engagement risks, and resolving engagement issue.
- Providing on-site support to customers within Australia and Overseas.
- Supporting the work of Principals and other team members in developing technical capability for the DFIR practice and their use on engagements.
- Participating in professional training and development, including attainment of industry certifications where appropriate, to develop DFIR skills and experience.
Desirables:
- Proven experience as a DFIR specialist
- Highly capable of consistently delivering high quality DFIR work with little guidance
- Attainment of at least three high quality DFIR certifications
- Ability to attain a further advanced high quality DFIR certification
- Highly effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, building credibility with senior leaders and internal working teams
- Capable of taking responsibility for elements of engagement management
- Ability to obtain a high level or government vetting, NV-1 minimum
