Support Engineer / SRE — Cyber Security | Sydney
Our client, a niche cyber security company, is looking for a Support Engineer / SRE to join their Engineering team in Macquarie Park, Sydney, helping deliver and maintain complex solutions for customers in the cyber security market.
This role blends tier 2/3 technical support with hands-on SRE-style responsibility. You'll be involved in a wide range of engineering activities — from supporting existing customer systems and running root cause investigations, through to leading infrastructure design and driving automation across the team.

What you'll be doing - Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient infrastructure and services that meet customer expectations
- Develop and maintain tools and frameworks for deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence
- Monitor and enhance system performance and reliability, proactively resolving issues before they impact customers
- Collaborate with software engineers to influence designs for service reliability, scalability, and customer satisfaction
- Lead incident management and resolution, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
- Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual work
- Configure hardware and software components, and manage system configuration and automation processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of customer systems, configurations, procedures, and user guides
- Guide customers through troubleshooting steps and product usage
- Respond to customer inquiries and support tickets promptly
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 support coverage if required
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
What you'll bring Must-have: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years' experience in telecommunications, software, or the design and development of complex solutions
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Go, Java), with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Experience in a technical role such as SRE, Systems Administration, or Systems Engineering, ideally supporting customer-facing services
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms, container orchestration, and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences
- Proven experience mentoring or leading technical teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical issues
Essential requirement Eligibility for Australian Security Clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory).
